Memoir Writing Prompt: What about forgiveness?
“To err is human; to forgive divine” Alexander Pope. Wednesday, I asked you to write about a mistake you may have made in life and what you learned from that time. Today, let’s look at the last part of that quote—“to forgive divine.” For some, forgiveness is easy. Or at least they say they forgive. How do we truly forgive someone of a misdoing against us? This one may not be fun to write. However, it is a topic that your children, grandchildren, and your future generations will encounter. Knowing how you chose to forgive will speak volumes to them just knowing you went through this too.
Today’s Writing Prompt: Are you harboring ill feelings against someone today? Sometimes when we sit down and actually write out the entire happening, it really isn’t as bad as we perceived it to be. Write down the incident and then describe your true emotions. Is there pain? Guilt? Anger? Frustration? Can you call the person today and make amends? If you do, write about what was said.
Today, focus on your writing for the betterment of your generations to come.
