Interview with Wanda Thomas Littles author of Preacha!
Let me introduce you to the creative brain behind Preacha! She is not only an outstanding writer of fiction, but also, a prolific writer of poetry for the soul. Where were you born and where do you call home? I was born in Bessemer, Alabama
Tell us about something that has just happened or is about to happen in your life that you would like to share.
I was just a guest on Great Day SA and I had a blast! But I had a couple memory lapses and couldn’t think of the event the cover was based on, (a Tom Thumb Wedding), and I gave the wrong church for the photo shoot for my book, I said Mount Zion and later remembered it was Saint Paul. Outside of that, I had a good time.
What is the name of your most recent book and if you had to sum it up in 30 or fewer words, what would you say?
My most recent book is Preacha! It’s the story of a handsome young African American boy whose faith changes a grandmother from one who despises him to one who loves him.
Do you have plans for a new book? Is this book part of a series?
Currently I’m ghostwriting a book for a missionary from Uganda who survived both the Amin and Obote regimes. As of now, there are no plans for a series for Preacha!, although I’d love to do one. Many readers have asked if I’ll do a sequel. It just depends.
What books have influenced your writing? The Learning Tree, Sounder, To Kill a Mockingbird, I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings.
I love the classics and these are all books that I read and loved for their depiction of a time that was both very beautiful and very fearful for me. But my take was, not what was done to us as a race, so much as what we did to us, and I offered faith in Christ as a means to cope with the hatred from within and from without. My view is that if we treated everyone the way Christ says to, there would be no need for laws to make us do it.
Is there an Author that you would really like to meet?
J. California Cooper is an excellent poet I’d love to sit down with over a Crumpets croissant, some cheese, some grapes, and some raspberry tea.
Do you prefer ebooks, paperbacks or hardcover? Paper backs.
Where do you prefer to buy your books? Bookstores
Are you a self published (Indie) Author? Yes.
What book would you like to read again?
I can’t think of one I’d like to read again, unless it was a classic. There’s something clean and pure about these books that you can’t find in contemporary books, even contemporary Christian books.
Is there a particular movie that you preferred over the book version? The Color Purple.
Who designed the cover of your book? I came up with the idea and enlisted the aid of a friend, and my editor Cris Wanzer and they made it happen.

What are your thoughts on book trailers?
I think book trailers provide the visual teasing a book needs much like a cover design, but it is, in my opinion, exponentially more inviting and alluring.
An early childhood memory – Christmas was the most magical, soothing, family-encouraging, stomach-filling, Christ-centered, fun-enhancing time of my little life. There were so many good things to appreciate at Christmas. Everyone seemed nicer at Christmas. The best foods were at Christmas. And the most laughter was heard at Christmas. I loved Christmas.
Laptop or desktop for writing? Desktop.
Where and when do you prefer to do your writing? In my living room, at my desk, after midnight.

Great interview and of course Wanda sets the bar with each interview she
does. Very inspiring writer and so humble and down to earth. Always enjoy her writings, and looking forward to her next book. Preacha truly is a great read and a very touching story. I wonder how many little boys and girls truly had to go through such an ordeal by their own blood! Keep up the good work Wanda.

You all are the greatest. And Al, Yes! did she not do a great job! I am soo grateful to have the support of friends like you. You’ll notice a gap in the days between your posts and mine, I thanked every one of you in an e-mail, now that I have a moment, I can thank you publicly.
First Judy, you have shown yourself to be an encouraging and caring advocate of my work and I appreciate all that you have done. You will NEVER know what that means to me at this point, on this day, and I say thank you for believing in me.
