Memoir Writing Prompt: What story can you tell about your past Christmas trees?
I have fond memories of traipsing through our woods on the farm in Pennsylvania to find the perfect Christmas tree. Each year, we promised ourselves it would be even more beautiful than the year before. I’m not sure that we ever succeeded. However, in our eyes, it was perfect in every way with one branch here and another there and five tops that all needed a star. Maybe it was the homemade paper chains and defective glass ornaments we bought for five cents at the Corning Glass Factory where Daddy worked that made our trees come alive. Or maybe the silver tinsel that puddled on each branch made it glow more. Or perhaps it was the whole experience of family crunching up the hill through the snow and together deciding which of the many trees would be the chosen one.
Writing Prompt: What memory comes to mind about your Christmas trees of the past? Write it down. And have fun writing for your generations to come.
